iThing AB builds embedded systems for connected products: firmware close to the hardware, real-time operating systems, wireless communication, secure updates and AI at the edge. We work alongside the electronics and cloud teams so the whole product fits together — from first bring-up to certified series production.

How we build embedded software

1. Architecture and requirements

We define software architecture, processor and RTOS choice, memory and power budgets and security requirements before implementation starts.

2. Bring-up and drivers

Board bring-up, bootloader, drivers for sensors and peripherals and low-level debugging together with the hardware team.

3. RTOS and real-time logic

Application logic on Zephyr, FreeRTOS or bare metal — deterministic timing, scheduling, low-power modes and reliable round-the-clock operation.

4. Connectivity and protocols

BLE, Wi-Fi, LoRaWAN, NB-IoT/LTE-M, Modbus and CAN, with MQTT or HTTPS to the cloud and robust handling of dropouts.

5. Edge intelligence and OTA

Data processing and machine learning on the device itself, plus secure over-the-air updates with rollback and version control.

6. Security and compliance

Secure boot, signed firmware, key management, SBOM and vulnerability handling — with CRA and EN 40000-1-2 support through our Zyber department.
